This is a map which shows where everyone lived in the Town of Carmel and Mahopac, New York in 1867. This map was reproduced on fine natural color parchment. It's 11"x 17" and suitable to fit a standard size frame or can be matted to fit a larger museum quality mat.The pictures provided only show portions of the actual maps!

Please note that the map is shown in 4 scanned images to show detail. Contained on the map are finely detailed locations of the homeowners of Carmel which includes areas known as Mahopac, West Mahopac, Carmel Hills, Crafts and Croton Falls. Back in 1867 this map was of Westchester County but now it has sections of Putnam County due to changes in boundaries. Some of the many features of this map include the many man made reservoirs which weren't made yet, Lake Gleneida, Croton River, Lake Gilead, Lake Mahopac, Kirk Lake, Secor Lake, Long pond, Wixsom pond, Petre island & Grand Island (now Canopus Island. It's hard to make out the specifics from my poor picture, however it is indeed crystal clear on the actual map!
Some of the surnames which are clearly printed are Russell, Seymour, Wright, Travis, Watson, Baxter, Bailey, Quick, Gregory, Hill, Smith, Slawson and so many more that it's impossible to list! Also indicated on the map are schools, businesses, railroads, geographic areas and rivers/streams.
This fine piece of history would indeed make quite a conversation piece as well as an excellent gift for that person who has everything!
What a great genealogical treasure to be able to locate the homes of one or more of your ancestors!
