Description

This is an original map of the town of Derby, CT from 1868. It's about 16"x 24" and suitable to fit a standard size frame. It was once called Birmingham and that reference is all but left to history now.
Contained on the map are finely detailed locations of the homeowners of the town of Derby. This map shows the homesteads and farms with the owners named and the business section of Derby as it sits next to the Naugatuck River.
Some of
the surnames which are clearly printed are Freeman, Smith, Knapp, Baker, Wallace, Martindale, Brady, Waters, Welch and so many more that it's impossible to list! Also indicated on the map are schools, named streets, railroads and rivers/streams. Also shown on the map are detailed business directories of the many merchants in town. It's in really good condition considering it's age and is completely intact. There are age spots and one small water mark.
Please remember that this is an original and not a copy and is affixed to heavy weight card stock to protect it from damage. It ships flat due to this !
This map would indeed make quite a conversation piece as well as an excellent gift for that person who has everything!
Find your old house and who lived in it back in 1868. What a great genealogical treasure to be able to locate the homes of one or more of your ancestors!
