Description

This is a  map of the town of  Groton, CT from 1869.  This map was recently reproduced on fine natural color parchment. It's 11"x 17" and suitable to fit a standard size frame.
The pictures provided show only portions of the actual maps, please feel free to contact me with any questions!
Contained on the map are finely detailed locations of the homeowners of the town of Groton. Also shown on this map are the villages of Groton, Long Hill, Center Groton, Groton Long Point, Noank, West Mystic, Mystic, Midway, Burnetts Corner, Poquonock Bridge & Trails Corner. Some of the points of interest for this area are Poqunock Lake (which is now Groton Reservoir, Pohegnut Reservoir and Smith Lake), Fort Trumbull
,
Groton-New London Airport, Navy Yard Site (which is now New London Naval Submarine Base), Bluff Point State Park, Haley Farm State Park, Masons Island, Mystic Harbor, Mumford Cove, Beebe Cove, Six Penny Island and Beebe Pond Park. Due to the limited size of my scanner bed, portions of the map may not be shown.
Some of the surnames which are clearly printed are Chapman, Prentice, Morgan, Copp, Haley, Daniels, Gardner, Baker, Chester, Davis and so many more that it's impossible to list! Also indicated on the map are schools,  streets, railroads and rivers/streams.
It would indeed make quite a conversation piece as well as an excellent gift for that person who has everything! What a great genealogical treasure to be able to locate the homes of one or more of your ancestors or to see who owned your home back then!  Multiple purchases can be combined for one shipping charge! Please check out my other listings for many other fine old town maps!
