Description

T
his is a 2 map set of the City of Hartford and the County, CT from 1869. This map set was recently reproduced on fine natural color parchment. They're 11"x 17" and suitable to fit a standard size frame. Due to the limited size of my scanner bed, portions of the maps may not be visible.
The pictures provided show only portions of the actual maps, please feel free to contact me with any questions!
Contained on the first map are finely detailed locations of the homeowners of the City of Hartford. The second map shows the entire county of Hartford with it's many towns and villages. Note that because the city of Hartford is densely populated  in 1869 many of the inhabitants are not shown. However the many farms and estates that surround the city are shown.
The names are quite small but can be read.
Some of the surnames which are clearly printed are Tuttle, Lane, Day, Bronson, Brown, Clark, Holcomb and many more. Also indicated on the map are schools, named streets, railroads and rivers/streams.
The second map is that of Hartford County from 1893.
Contained on this map are the named towns showing topography of the many mountains and hills which are named as well. Some of the towns shown on the map are Canton, Granby, Hartland, Suffield, Enfield, East Windsor, South Windsor, Windsor, Windsor Locks, Bloomfield, Simsbury and East Granby.
This map set would indeed make quite a conversation piece as well as an excellent gift for that person who has everything! Find your old house and who lived in it back in 1869. What a great genealogical treasure to be able to locate the homes of one or more of your ancestors!
