This is a 6 map set of Long Island City, Queens County, New York in 1873. Recently reproduced on fine natural color parchment, this map set is 11"x 17" and suitable to fit a standard size frame or can be matted to fit a larger museum quality mat.The pictures provided show only portions of the actual maps, please feel free to contact me with any questions!
Contained on the maps are finely detailed streets with some homeowners and future planned lots and other physical demographics. The map comprises the area from the East River to about 35th Street and Broadway to 36th Ave. Along with the Long Island City Map are 5 other maps of Ravenswood, Richmond Hill, Dutch Kills, Hunters Point and Blissville. Some of the surnames which are clearly printed are Gardner, Scott, Steel, Mason, Lockwood, Brooks, Upson, Beebe, Smith, Combs, Stevens and others! Please note that many of the more populated areas won't show surnames and that much of the town was planned construction for future development. The many named streets show numbered lots. Also indicated on the map are schools, named streets, railroads and rivers/streams.
It would indeed make quite a conversation piece as well as an excellent gift for that person who has everything!
What a great genealogical treasure to be able to locate the homes of one or more of your ancestors!
