This is a  2 map set of the town of Pomfret, CT from 1869. This map set was recently reproduced on fine natural color parchment. They're 11"x 17" and suitable to fit a standard size frame. Contained on the maps are finely detailed locations of the homeowners of the town of Pomfret.

The first map (which is partially shown)  is that of the entire town of Pomfret which includes the villages of Abington, Pomfret Landing, Pomfret Street and Elliots. Some of the interesting features on this map are Quinebaug River, Mashamoquet Brook, Lyon Brook, Wappoquin Brook, Putnams Wolf Den which is now located in Mashamaquet Brook State Park, the Boston, Hartford & Erie Railroad, Baker Pond, Easter Hill Depot, Sharpe Hill, the Quaker Meeting House on Quaker Rd and the cider mill located on Needles Eye Rd.
The second map contains inset maps of the town of Putnam, village of East Putnam, Village of Pomfret Street and village of Pomfret Landing which also shows the many homeowners and businesses.  Due to the limited size of my scanner bed, portions of the map may not be shown.
Some of the surnames which are clearly printed are Childs, Williams, Hoppin, Harris, Eldridge, Mathewson, Hyde, Cotton, Chollar and so many more that it's impossible to list! Also indicated on the map are schools, businesses, named streets, railroads and rivers/streams.
This map set would indeed make quite a
conversation piece as well as an excellent gift for that person who has everything! Find your old house and who lived in it back in 1869.
