Contained on the maps are finely detailed locations of the homeowners of the Towns of Washington, New Preston and Marblehead. It's hard to make out the specifics from my scanned picture, however it is indeed crystal clear on the actual maps! The first map (which is partially shown) shows the entire Town of Washington which includes the Washington, Washington Depot, Marbledale, New Preston & Woodville . The second map contains inset maps of the business areas of the villages of New Preston, Bethlehem, Washington, Marbledale and South Farms. As in the first map, shown are the many homeowners and business names.
Some of the surnames which are clearly printed are Galpin, Hurlburt, Lyman, Upson, Smith, Gregory, Morehouse, Ford, Sperry, Cable, Bennett and so many more that it's impossible to list! Also indicated on the map are schools, businesses, railroads and rivers/streams. Some of the many
items of interest contained on this map are Lake Waramaug, Shepaug River and The Shepaug Valley Railroad.
This map set would indeed make quite a conversation piece as well as an excellent gift for that person who has everything!
