Description
This is a 2 map set which shows where many of the homeowners lived in Watertown, Connecticut in 1874. These fine maps were recently reproduced on fine natural color parchment. They're 11"x 17" and suitable to fit a standard size frame or can be matted to fit a larger museum quality mat.
The pictures provided show only portions of the actual maps, please feel free to contact me with any questions!
Contained on the maps are finely detailed locations of the homeowners of Watertown. Due to large areas covered by the maps, many of the names of the homeowners are quite small.
Due to the limited size of my scanner bed, portions of the maps may not be shown. Please check out the pictures included for better detail!
The first map (1st 2 pictures) shows the central business area of Watertown. The second map (3rd & 4th pictures) shows the entire township of Watertown. There is a small inset map of the village of Rockdale as well. It's interesting to see how much the city has changed in almost 150 years. Truly a great matching set. It's hard to make out the specifics from my poor picture however it's clearly detailed on the actual maps!
Some of the surnames which are printed are Kelsey, Elliot, Hill, Griswold, Norton, Fowler, Martin, Spencer, Davis, Benson, Hubbard and so many more that it's impossible to list! Also indicated on the maps are schools, named streets, railroads and rivers/streams.
It would indeed make quite a conversation piece as well as an excellent gift for that person who has everything! What a great genealogical treasure to be able to locate the homes of one or more of your ancestors!
Multiple purchases can be combined for one shipping charge! Please check out my other listings for many other fine old town maps!
